Day Dreaming: Carrie in Paris

It's all sloshy and grey today in Seattle, and it has me thinking about frolicking around Paris in a black trench and staying (somewhat) dry with a pretty umbrella...

How perfect, then, is this shot of SJP (aka Miss Carrie Bradshaw) with her sleek stiletto boots and perfectly coiffed 'do??

Looking forward to cozy fall days, but hoping for a little more summer...

Hope it's sunny and warm where you are!

Ciao!

Weekend Mugs

We have a little tradition in our house... we really love our morning coffee, and to make it feel super special on the weekends, we use our favorite mugs. These aren't just any mugs, mind you... these were packed home very carefully from a trip to Florence (to where we had travelled with just backpacks!!).

Photo: Moi

This weekend, these lovelies will stay in the cupboard until Sunday, because we are shooting a fabulous wedding on Saturday!

And, for fun, a few favorite things from this last week...

*A gorgeous equestrian-inspired shoot from one of my favorite wedding photographers, Jose Villa... so dreamy.

*The new Nordstrom website is up and running... so much prettier than the old one...

*So thankful for the love from Made by Girl (Thank You, Jen!!:)...

*A beautiful Colorado wedding by Australian photographer Jonas Peterson featured on Once Wed...

*And my favorite French girl, Garance, moved to NY!! Fun to see through her eyes...

Okay, goodness... I'm sure I missed something amazing, but hopefully this will get you off to a good start for your weekend reading.

Happy Friday, Lovelies!!

Sally

White & Black...

...and some artful pops of color have me swooning over this Manhattan abode. When we lived in New York, our home was a 380-square foot, 6th-floor walk-up. Imagine - having all this light and space and even live plants - what a dream!!

I'm absolutely obsessed with that breathtaking rug pictured above, and the fireplace below is perfection...

I'm inspired... off to redesign my living room. ;)

Take Me to Paris!

I just bought this sweet little sweater for Audrey from Gap Kids' American in Paris line, and they had me so tempted to buy the little matching beret and skinny jeans...

Then, I came home to find the newest Travel & Leisure in our mailbox with - you guessed it - Paris as the cover story!!

I've only been to Paris once, but oh man, I wanna go back!! Time for those French classes I'm always talking about, no??

Domino Inspiration: Part VI

These arrangements are a perfect mix of seasonal flowers, berries on the vine, and richly hued color combos... love how they all start with an interesting container, too! I might try my hand at this first one...

And this next one, since we have grapes in our backyard...

Happy Monday!

Featherlicious!

Oooohh my! I went to J. Crew to check out boots (more on that later!) and came across a chic little feather jacket... who knew dressing like the birds could be so lovely?!

Thank goodness for fall fashion to help me get over the waning days of summer...

Some of my favorite fashion photographs ever in this shoot from Patrick Demarchelier for Vogue back in 2004...

A Peek at Our House - The Office

So, I've had a few people ask me to share photos of my own house, along with organizing and styling tips... it's been hard to work up the courage to post any, because I don't feel like it's pulled together enough to post on the internet for the world to see!!

Alas, since I am a bit of a perfectionist, I doubt I will ever think my house is "done" - hence, I will start sharing with you all now, right along with my plans and decor dreams for the future!

Since Monday always feels like back-to-work time, I thought I'd start with our home office. It is extremely small, so we've had to be creative in our use of space & storage.

Above: I love our Pottery Barn Bedford desk - it's the perfect size and the white feels so clean... the inspiration board is continually updated... we rotate between an exercise ball and this folding chair - not ideal for hours of editing pictures, but we have our eyes on the Herman Miller Aeron Chair! :) Below: I repurposed this adorable little pot as a pen holder - love the bright chartreuse! Below: I'm obsessed with pretty stationery, and I've always got a million notepads on hand to jot down ideas or lists... the hanging baskets from Ikea (got those on a tip from one of my sister-in-laws:) are a cute alternative to clunky plastic ones, and I love that they get the folders up and off the desk. Below: We found these magazine organizers at Ikea, too... of course, I have my Domino collection nearby at all times. ;)
We originally had a white version of this shelf in our office, which looked much cleaner, but I decided I had to have the white one upstairs, so we moved this one down... maybe we'll replace it one day!
I couldn't get a wide angle shot of the entire office, so here's a peek at the view out the window...

Okay, now you know where I work. :) Off to get something done now!!

Happy Monday!

Vintagey Chic from Lauren Moffatt

"Ooh, la la" is all I can say about some of the fabulous pieces from Lauren Moffatt's Fall 2010 collection!
Love every single thing about this ensemble...
...and I'd love to decorate a room around this skirt! Gorgeous, no?

Can you even believe how perfectly the little bit of lace peeks out from under that skirt?!

So pretty... A big "thanks" is due to Lonny Magazine for turning me on to her site!

Yellow?!!

Aaahh!!! (Yep, just made that word up - do you like it??:) I posted about these towels back in February, and now I'm in love with them yet again - in this amazing golden yellow color!! Darn you, Anthropologie! ;)

The Best Thank You Notes Ever!

I came across this perfectly funny blog via A Cup of Jo & I'm smitten!

My fave...
From her blog: "Leah Dieterich's mother always told her to write thank you notes. So she does. To everything."

Love a good sense of humor! :)

Hallway Redo - Our House!

Our entryway is a work in progress, so I'm not showing the entire thing just yet (don't fret - I will in time!) but I did want to show you the latest development: white paint & purse hooks!!

Okay, it's not exactly white, it's more of a creamy white, but we rescued the hallway from a dark, chocolate brown (which I loved when we first painted it a few years ago, but was just feeling too heavy for the hall outside my office)...

The hooks are from Anthropologie (of course - you all know by now that Anthro is my favorite hardware source!:) and they were the perfect solution to the clutter my handbag & Jeff's man-bag (ha!) were always adding to our kitchen!

We also put up a pretty little gallery of a few of our favorite wedding images just in case we ever invite our lovely clients over to the office. :)

Photos: Me:)

Anyway, the hall needs some pretty rugs - (I'm not a big fan of the basic tile that came with our townhouse) and I'd love to squeeze a super-narrow console table in with a pretty mirror - but for now, it's a vast improvement!!

Cheers!

Lovely Lulu!

My good friend Molly over at The Girl in Green shared a link to this fabulous-looking new cookbook from Lulu Powers called Food to Flowers... Her site is so pretty and fresh, and I can only imagine the book is full of wonderful inspiration (and I love the subtitle - "Simple, Stylish Food For Easy Entertaining" - isn't that what we all need with our hectic schedules?) This is on my wish-list, for sure.

Happy Entertaining!

I Love Blue...

...and I adore this "Love Candy" poster from Made by Girl!! I had so many people tell me how much they loved these last time I posted a link to Jen's site, so I just had to let all of my lovely readers know that she has new colors!

Blue Raspberry (pictured below) is so fresh and pretty, and Bubble Gum is a perfect pink... These would be so cute in a nursery or powder room or as a super fun wedding accessory (picture one hanging above the bride & groom's table at a mod-styled reception!).

Cheers!

Alicia's Eco-Chic Abode

I am only slightly embarrassed to admit that I knew every line of the movie Clueless by heart as a teenager! Luckily, Alicia Silverstone, who played the fashion-obsessed main character Cher in the film, is now setting a perfect example of eco-chic living.

I saved these pictures from a 2007 Instyle Home magazine, and wanted to share with you lovelies today!

Alicia and her decorator worked together to use renewable resources, organic fabric, and antiques to adorn her home...
Photos: Matthew Hranek/In Style Home Spring 2007

I just love how personal and cozy the space feels (yet still super pretty with a touch of elegance)! So inspiring...

With August here (already?!!) I'm still busy photographing weddings and such (you can check out our work HERE if you're curious :) but I'll do my best to post on a daily basis again! ;)

Happy Monday!

Sally
